Starting to Notice Signs of Ageing?

How our facial aesthetic treatments can help you look younger for the festive season.

With the party season just around the corner, many of our patients from the Ware and Bishop’s Stortford areas will be starting to think about how to look their best at the various social events.

Whilst many will opt for our popular, and effective, cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening to give them a great smile; some may not, perhaps, be aware that we also offer facial aesthetic treatments at Much Hadham Dental Care.

Safe

First of all, we would like to say to anyone who is concerned about treatments such as Botox, that, despite what you may have read in some of the more sensationalist parts of our media, it is entirely safe providing that it is done by a qualified professional. The procedures that you may have seen which have gone wrong are likely to have been caused by one of two factors. Either because they were administered incorrectly by an inexperienced and unqualified person; or, with some celebrities; where they have found someone unethical who has agreed to administer large doses in order to make extreme (and sometime potentially dangerous) changes to their appearance.

If you have previously been interested in having your skin looking smoother, but have been deterred by the safety factor, we are more than happy to discuss any aspect of this with you. Simply call our reception team to make an appointment.

How it works

There are two key ways that we can help to smooth out the wrinkles on your skin and to fill out thinning lips and other facial volume loss.

Botox

Botox is perhaps the best known cosmetic facial treatment, and works by using a very fine needle to inject small quantities into the skin in the target area. The botox then starts to block the nerve impulses which contract the facial muscles and cause lines and wrinkles to appear. Generally speaking, you should start to notice a reduction in wrinkles within two to three days, but the full effects usually take around seven to ten days to be seen.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers work by replacing the collagen in the skin which reduces as we get older. This loss can result not only in facial lines, but also in thinning lips and sagging cheeks. Similarly to botox, fillers are injected into the relevant areas by means of an injection. It should be noted that this is not a very painful procedure and generally no local anaesthetic is necessary.

The effects of dermal fillers can last for up to a year, although this will vary with each individual. As with botox, there is no problem in having repeat treatments to maintain a more youthful appearance.
